A DAY AT THE FUTURE CENTER
We went on a field trip to the future center ; which is basically a school for the disabled children .The future center is willing to take in any child with all sorts of disabilities except the ones with visual impairment , their main aim is to integrate the students with the outside world and not have them isolated from society. A lot of challenges are faced in the future center, some are by the staff and others are faced by the students. The student’s main challenges are those of personal nature; they have to overcome their low self-esteem and try to fit well in the outside world. The other challenges that are faced by the staff are mostly concerning the participants (students); all the staff should have immense self-control and not snap on the students at any time. The future center have 182 students at the moment and have proudly graduated and integrated 74 students into the outside world either with mainstream schools or directly to jobs , as well as students with certain difficulties such as mobility or speech were able to do that for the first time at the future center. The future center wants to keep doing what they are doing and maybe even try to graduate and integrate even more students. The whole initiative of the future center wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the culturally diverse staff present at the facility. With each member of the staff having a different and a unique skill that is helping the future center move forward. The students as well are widely culturally diverse; most of them are from different nationalities.
All in all, it was a very rewarding day at the future center for us and the teacher, you cannot appreciate something rightfully enough until you have seen someone that lost it.
