personal reflection #5

Cultural Diversity is a way of thinking, living and defending things around us. This is my first semester in collage, and a have 6 different courses none of them really relates to life, let’s say there just Theoretical. However Cultural Diversity really made me think, it defended a lot of things a was doing in my daily life Unconsciously, Enlightened me you can say. I learned really useful things on this course and I wish to go further learning about people, lifestyles, and ways of thinking. In this course I had great experiments as well one of them is the trip to future center, I really had a good time and thought about blisses that god gave me, how i should not waste it, and thank for it day and night. One greater thing a learned about is how people are different, how they have all these different life styles and ways of thinking. For example we emirates are beater in groups we preform beater think beater and almost everything. How Germans for another example are so strict. Without compliment this is my best and most beneficial course I ever had. Thanks Mister Gregory for always making it easy for us and thank you again for such a great experience in my life.

Gap years, a well-known idea in Europe and America, which is taking a year off after high school but to travel and work there, it may be a year or half year as you wish.
Gap years teach you how to be independent, self-confidence and give an experience of life after university.
In our country, people don’t like taking gap years, they think that if they took it then they return to the university it will be hard for them to get on with studying.
Never the less there some people that are forced to take it like those who had low marks in high school which made none of the governmental universities take them so they had to take a gap year to work and get some money to get in a private university.
Also there are some who took it because they didn’t want to study.
In my opinion Emiratis would be interested in gap years on these five or eight years, because there are people are taking it and talking about how exiting is it.
If you asked me, I would take a gap year in Saudi Arabia, there isn’t any specific thing I want to do but mainly I want to work near Mekka, I think Jeddah is the nearest place that I can get a good job from.

The main connection that is between UAE and Cambodia is that the UAE is investing halal food in Cambodia

Personal Reflection #3

Discrimination nowadays is much less than before. The world is changing every day. But the difference between today and before discrimination is discriminating about what and whom. I will talk about some situation where I faced, experienced, and saw discrimination.

It can be clearly seen that, Arabs and Islamic people (Muslims) are discriminated in some countries but not all. Last summer I went to Bali, Indonesia. Bali’s people are all Hindu and Buddhist. There are very few Muslims that can be counted by fingers. In Indonesia, They hate Saudi’s people because of political reasons. So, In Bali we were discriminated for Islam and they think that we are Saudi’s. So, they treated us as they treated Saudi’s. But when we tell them that we are from UAE, they smiled and treated us happily. In that moment we felt like we want to kill them. Really it was a bad feeling to be discriminated to Islam and us.

On the other hand I think that media is playing a huge role on people thought about Islam and Arabs. That’s what causes a believer in people’s mind. These days, media is called the fourth Estate of a country. So, if want to change the thought of people we have to make use of the media and start to make movies and Ads that will affect the people. Not necessary by the TV, We can publish them on YouTube and social websites. And also by tourist who come to Arabian countries.

All in all, we hope that people remove the idea of discrimination from their mind and start a new thought and believe of the Arab countries and Islam especially

Obama's Speech

Barack Obama in his speech, he called for unity and improvement for all the ethnic groups. Obama named the different groups one by one like; Black and white, Asian or Native American, young or old, Rich or poor, able of disabled, gay or straight. All for the sake of raising the morals of the people and giving them the hope they needed and he targeted the people in the middle class that are not comfortable in their lives and stated that he will be giving them their rights as Americans. Obama’s speech also had the type of content that American love for example, Americans love to be told that they live in the greatest country in the world thus, Obama made sure that his speech would clearly state that America is the greatest country and  he had the tone in his speech that grape the attention of the people, the kind of tone that is used to give courage and hope to people that seek improvement in their lives.

Furthermore, The Cambodians tend to be more stoic, they don’t show emotions however, the Emirates are close to affective they show more emotions and gestures when arguing to If they have something to say. Personal Reflection #2

A DAY AT THE FUTURE CENTER

We went on a field trip to the future center ; which is basically a school for the disabled children .The future center is willing to take in any child with all sorts of disabilities except the ones with visual impairment , their main aim is to integrate the students with the outside world and not  have them isolated from society. A lot of challenges are faced in the future center, some are by the staff and others are faced by the students. The student’s main challenges are those of personal nature; they have to overcome their low self-esteem and try to fit well in the outside world. The other challenges that are faced by the staff are mostly concerning the participants (students); all the staff should have immense self-control and not snap on the students at any time. The future center have 182 students at the moment and have proudly graduated and integrated 74 students into the outside world either with mainstream schools or directly to jobs , as well as students with certain difficulties such as mobility or speech were able to do that for the first time at the future center. The future center wants to keep doing what they are doing and maybe even try to graduate and integrate even more students. The whole initiative of the future center wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the culturally diverse staff present at the facility. With each member of the staff having a different and a unique skill that is helping the future center move forward. The students as well are widely culturally diverse; most of them are from different nationalities.
All in all, it was a very rewarding day at the future center for us and the teacher, you cannot appreciate something rightfully enough until you have seen someone that lost it.
